Finger Motion Recognition by Skin Surface Vibration Patterns

چکیده
Recently, the development of prosthetic hand systems for hand amputees has attracted wide research interests. otion-related myoelectric potentials measured from the surface of upper part of forearms were mostly employed to construct the interface between amputees and prostheses However, finger motions could not be recognized from surface EMG (Electromyogram) signals. the basic idea of this study is to use motion-related surface vibration, to detect independent finger motions without using EMG signals. In this research, a finger tapping experiment used accelerometers was conducted to collect the finger motion related mechanical vibration patterns. The results with a wave form template matching method showed that the finger motion identification is possible by analyzing the vibration patterns.

Finger Motion Classification by Forearm Skin Surface Vibration Signals
The development of prosthetic hand systems with both decoration and motion functionality for hand amputees has attracted wide research interests. Motion-related myoelectric potentials measured from the surface of upper part of forearms were mostly employed to construct the interface between amputees and prosthesis. However, finger motions, which play a major role in dexterous hand activities, co...
متن کاملTactile perception by friction induced vibrations
When a finger moves to scan the surface of an object (haptic sensing), the sliding contact generates vibrations that propagate in the finger skin activating the receptors (mechanoreceptors) located in the skin, allowing the brain to identify objects and perceive information about their properties. The information about the surface of the object is transmitted through vibrations induced by frict...
متن کاملEffects of aging on vibration detection thresholds at various body regions
BACKGROUND The ability to detect sinusoidal vibrations on the skin surface is dependent on the activation of two classes of receptors. The density of such receptors varies across the skin surface and is a factor in determining the sensory acuity of each skin area. However, the acuity of many sensory systems is known to deteriorate with advancing age. The aim of this study was to determine if vi...
متن کاملModified Couple Stress Theory for Vibration of Embedded Bioliquid-Filled Microtubules under Walking a Motor Protein Including Surface Effects
Microtubules (MTs) are fibrous and tube-like cell substructures exist in cytoplasm of cells which play a vital role in many cellular processes. Surface effects on the vibration of bioliquid MTs surrounded by cytoplasm is investigated in this study. The emphasis is placed on the effect of the motor protein motion on the MTs. The MT is modeled as an orthotropic beam and the surrounded cytoplasm i...
